All things considered, Trevor was thrilled with how the date had gone. He hadn’t got any closer to finding out what Mitchell had had to go to in Essex, but they’d been having such a good time that the opportunity to bring it up had never arisen. He didn’t want to spoil the date by asking about something that had made Mitchell freak out and snap. Mitchell was so much more relaxed in the privacy of Trevor’s flat, and it was nice to see.

He wouldn’t trouble himself with it for now. If he really felt he needed to know what sort of event it was, he’d probably have better luck getting it out of his dad.

“Well,” Mitchell said at the door, after a large breakfast. “I’ve decided I want to see you again.”

Trevor smiled and leaned against the wall. He’d put on his glasses and could make out things clearly now. “Oh? Good.”

“It’s just, it’ll be a few days. I have a lot of work I need to get done at Advanced and this was sort of, y’know, like, indulging before I have to set my mind to the task. You can still keep texting me, though.”

“A few days?”

“As in not until next month. Maybe two weeks.”

Trevor tried not to deflate, but felt his heart sink nonetheless. “Oh.”

Mitchell frowned apologetically. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay, I understand.”

Mitchell leaned forward to kiss him and Trevor met him halfway. “Try not to think of me as being anything but yours in the meantime,” he said with a smile when they parted.
